The movie industry is really starting to push it with 4k it seems. I've seeing new blu rays coming out that are "4k" which doesn't seem correct to me considering the amount of data 4k is supposed to have, so I'm not sure how a blu ray disc could hold a true 4k on its disc. But, they are starting to push it into the market. The price for 4k is pretty high right now, so I would still give it awhile unless they just start to flood it. Films that I have seen with the 4k label is the mathew broderick version of godzilla if you want to read into it. I have also heard that they are already in the works to look into the next level beyond 4k, so 4k may be along the lines of HD DVD. But yeah, 720 is still basically the native resolution for cable top boxes.
